Torch Lake Township Home Offers a Boating Paradise

For those who want the blue waters of the Caribbean in the Great Lakes State, a new home on the market — which comes fully furnished, with a solar-powered shore station and even a Four Winns boat — in the Torch Lake township of the County Antrim might just be the option.

But like many of the best homes on the market, if you want that 830 square foot space, you’ll need to move fast.

Located at 4614 Hopkins Lane on the north end of Torch Lake, the home originally listed at $595,000 but rose to $625,000 a day later. A “three-season vacation home,” agent Cindy Anderson of Lake Homes Realty said the home was “simply gorgeous.”

The house started life as a wood-frame cottage in the 1960s, but Anderson said his clients renovated it into the charming space it is today. They saved the trees, granting a level of privacy to the new owner, but modernized almost everything else, making just 830 square feet seem much larger. This also includes turning the garage into a separate guest house, so visiting friends can have their own space.

There’s a master bedroom in the house and an upstairs loft that Anderson says could easily hold seven or eight sleeping bags, making it a good option for kids or grandkids.

The Township of Torch Lake doesn’t allow vacation rentals, Anderson said, so the new landlord can rest assured his new neighbors will be just that — neighbors, rather than “party centers” for renters in short term.

Those who enjoy spending time on the water will feel right at home, Anderson said.

“Pictures don’t like it. It’s crystal clear and beautiful water,” she said. The water remains clear due to the calcium carbonate at the bottom of the lake, as reported by Forbes in 2018, which has white sediment and very low organic matter content, which hardly discolors the water.

“You have the calm waters of Torch Lake versus Lake Michigan, but you cross the street you could be right on Lake Michigan beach through beautiful County Antrim Park and be the only person on the beach” , Anderson said.

The house itself has a large rear deck perfect for entertaining, but the adjoining jetty also has plenty of space to use as a swim platform and to eat a meal with the family. The Four Winns boat and solar powered shore station will also remain with the house.

An unexpected feature of the house is that the owner is selling it with all the furniture included, making it as turnkey as possible.

“We sell it where you can just bring supplies and start having fun with it,” Anderson said.

Those looking to bid on the home should have all offers by noon Monday, July 18.
