Shoppers take last-minute trips – CBS Detroit

(CBS DETROIT) – The first winter storm of the year is finally here, and it’s expected to bring more than a foot of snow.

“I’m actually surprised we’ve got snow right now because we’ve been through all of Christmas and New Years now with snow,” Dionte Rivers said of his trip to a square in Southfield.

Shoppers were seen flooding stores for last-minute items on Wednesday ahead of what is being called a historic weather event.

“There are a lot of people in there and everyone is trying to get what they can get,” said a Kroger buyer.

Rivers made a quick run to grab some snacks to enjoy her indoor snow day.

“I’m not getting anything major, just a few chips, you feel me,” Rivers said.

“So you know I try to make smoothies, so you feel me, I have the Everfresh Cranberry.”

As the snow continues to fall, families are stopping for the night, preparing to relax until the storm passes.

“I think people are pretty much trying to stay safe indoors,” Rivers explained.

“The only reason I went out was because I had to get some papers and I’m going straight back to the crib which is across the street.”
