Newcastle United have reached a transfer fee of £ 12million for signing Atletico Madrid defender Kieran Trippier.
According to Sky Sports News, the Magpies have struck a deal with reigning champions La Liga to sign the England international this month.
Personal conditions are not seen as an issue, according to the report, and Trippier will now travel to the North East for a medical examination before moving to Newcastle.
The 31-year-old right-back will become the first player signed under Newcastle’s PIF regime, with defense being a key area Eddie Howe wants to strengthen this month in the transfer market.

Along with the baseline, the midfielder and central attacking could see new additions for Newcastle. Callum Wilson is expected to miss most of the season after sustaining a calf injury against Manchester United.
Indeed, the arrival of Trippier marks a new era for Newcastle. And while the defender alone won’t be enough to solve the club’s problems, it does indicate the Toon have the power to sign big names this month.
Trippier gets off to a good start for January spending at Newcastle
Euro 2020 finalist with England, Trippier is a great addition to Newcastle’s squad and should be used as an example for the type of players the Magpies should be looking to sign in January.
The defender was a favorite among Atletico fans last season in their winning campaign, and Newcastle fans will no doubt be delighted to see what Trippier can bring to the full-back position.
