The 2022 Grammy Awards were originally scheduled to take place on January 31. However, the Recording Academy has indefinitely postponed the 2022 Grammy Awards due to the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19). After the postponement of the awards show, Big Hit Music revealed that BTS’s plans to attend the Grammy Awards have changed.
The Recording Academy postponed the Grammy Awards
The Recording Academy issued a statement regarding the postponement of the 2022 Grammy Awards on January 5.
The Recording Academy statement reads as follows:
âAfter careful review and analysis with city and state officials, health and safety experts, the artist community, and our many partners, the Recording AcademyÂ® and CBS postponed the 64th annual GRAMMY AwardsÂ® To show. The health and safety of members of our music community, the live audience and the hundreds of people who work tirelessly to produce our show remain our top priority. Considering the uncertainty surrounding the Omicron variant, holding the show on January 31 just carries too much risk. We can’t wait to celebrate music’s greatest nightÂ® at a future date, which will be announced shortly.

BTS’s plans to attend the 2022 Grammy Awards have changed
At the 64th Annual Grammy Awards, BTS was nominated for Best Pop Duo / Group Performance for their song “Butter”. This is BTS’s second nomination in the category, as they were nominated for Best Pop Duo / Group Performance at the 2021 Grammy Awards for their song âDynamiteâ.
At the awards show, BTS is nominated alongside Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga with “I Get a Kick Out of You”, Coldplay for “Higher Power”, Doja Cat with SZA with “Kiss Me More”, and Justin Bieber and Benny Blanco for “Alone.”
After the Recording Academy announced the postponement of the 2022 Grammy Awards, Big Hit Music released a statement on BTS’s plans for the awards show.
âWe were getting ready to attend the awards ceremony, but we ended the discussion after hearing the news of the postponement. However, the Seoul concert scheduled for March will go off without a hitch, âwrote Big Hit Music according to Soompi.

BTS’s Jimin wants band to attend awards show
At this time, it’s unclear whether BTS will be able to attend the rescheduled 2022 Grammy Awards. While Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V and Jungkook are currently on vacation, the septet will be releasing a new album in 2022. The group should also hold Permission to dance on stage – Seoul concerts in March.
Before the Recording Academy announced the postponement of the 2022 Grammy Awards, the members of BTS were interviewed by Vogue Korea. In his interview with Vogue Korea, Jimin shared his hopes that BTS could attend the awards show in person.
âWinning a Grammy wasn’t something we never thought about, and I can’t believe we got nominated! It would be great to win the award and make our fans happy. But just being nominated is wonderful, âJimin told Vogue Korea.
The BTS singer added, “If possible, we want to be there and we want to play.”
