A total of 380 million passenger trips have been made during the 2022 Spring Festival travel rush so far, data from the Department of Transport showed on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, 86.16 million passenger rail trips were made in the first 15 days of the annual travel rush, up 65% from the same period in 2021, China State data shows. Railway Group.

A total of 156.64 million tons of goods were also delivered during the period, an increase of 1.01 million tons or 0.7 percent year-on-year, according to group data.

During the 40-day travel season, also known as chunyun in Chinese, many Chinese are traveling to reunite with their families for the Chinese Lunar New Year, which falls on February 1 this year.

In response to concerns about the increase in coronavirus cases following the massive movement of people, the Ministry of Transport said on January 17 that it would coordinate with relevant government departments to introduce targeted measures to support prevention and control. of COVID-19.

Sterilization of public places and transport vehicles, regular body temperature checks and face mask rules will be strictly enforced.

Rail services will continue to support the transport of essential materials related to the national economy and livelihoods. Materials include coal for power generation and heating, grain from northeast China, fertilizer for spring farming and holiday supplies, according to the group.
